A strong signal for the Charlottenburg location and the importance of local trade
Berlin, August 28, 2025 - What should city centers look like in the future - and how can the retail sector be strengthened? With these questions in mind, the Senator for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises of the State of Berlin paid a visit, Franziska Giffey, on August 25, 2025 the LIVING BERLIN. The visit also emphasized the importance of the building for Berlin-Charlottenburg and beyond: in 2025, LIVING BERLIN will celebrate its 25th anniversary as an icon of design and furnishing culture in Charlottenburg.
On her tour, Senator Giffey was impressed by Stephanie Salziger, Center Manager of LIVING BERLIN, about the positioning of the hotel, the modernization measures carried out in recent years and the unique concept - and above all experienced the expertise and diversity of the brands live:
LIVING BERLIN is home to around 40 stores and showrooms from high-end brands and specialists for all areas of living and lifestyle under one roof - a level of expertise and quality that is unique in Germany.
LIVING BERLIN as a central player in a vibrant urban environment
Senator Giffey's visit underlines LIVING BERLIN's role as a central player in a vibrant urban environment characterized by strong partners such as the Deutsche Oper, Theater des Westens, Waldorf Astoria, The Bristol and others, as well as the business networks VBKI and AG City. The anniversary year 2025 offers not only an opportunity to look back, but also to move forward - with the aim of further strengthening LIVING BERLIN as an address for interior design in Berlin and far beyond.
„We are delighted about the visit from Senator Giffey. LIVING BERLIN is a unique place for high-quality furnishing culture and creative ideas that have an impact far beyond Berlin. It is a strong symbol for the vibrant retail world in Charlottenburg and for the power of places where knowledge, expertise and inspiration come together. For a house like ours, it is also of great importance that our topics and concerns are also visibly positioned in politics,“ says Stephanie Salziger, Center Manager of LIVING BERLIN.
Stops on the tour included the showrooms of Nyhues, Zweiffel, Kerana, Bechstein, minimum, Max Schlundt and Ligne Roset. At Bechstein, Giffey was greeted with a concert on the grand piano, while at minimum she received the latest book „Zeitenwende“ from Dirk Borchardt. Like the building, minimum is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year - as a tenant from the very beginning, the company is closely linked to the history of LIVING BERLIN.
“LIVING BERLIN is a synonym for life in Berlin, for a home in our city.”
Senator Giffey: „LIVING BERLIN offers a very special variety of stores and the retailers impress with their specialist expertise. The building is a retail icon in Berlin-Charlottenburg - the striking façade stands for quality and uniqueness. Places like this attract Berliners and visitors from all over the world, strengthen local trade and have international appeal.“
